Recently in the Deseret News an article was published titled "When Mom's in control of her emotions and able to problem-solve, there's a greater chance her kids won't throw tantrums." This title feels very guilt inducing to Host Lindsay Aerts, but, upon reading further she actually agrees with the principle being taught. That her thoughts are causing her feelings and her feelings are driving her actions so when mom is more in tune with that regulation, she's able to problem solve and help her child know how to do the same. She discusses the article with author and emotional healer Lindsay Maxfield. You can read the full article here.

If you've been a mom for any amount of time you've most certainly learned a thing or two about yourself, motherhood, and life. I talk with Monica Ashton, Director of Maternal Mental Health at The Healing Group about the main things I learned since becoming a mother. I now know it's absolutely OK to feel however I'm feeling about being a mom. Whether that's good or bad, it's all okay. For a while I felt a lot of shame and guilt that I wasn't enjoying it more. I thought that meant that I didn't have the chip to be a mom. Little did I know more people were having the experience I was having, I just never saw it. The Mom Show on KSL is hosted by Lindsay Aerts. I talk with Monica Ashton, Director of Maternal Mental Health at The Healing Group about the main things I learned about pregnancy since becoming a mother and what I would do differently. I would tell my pre-kid self not to worry so much, I would tell her to think about life after the due date, and that it's OK for all of it to be hard. The Mom Show on KSL is hosted by Lindsay Aerts. Host Lindsay Aerts talks with Monica Ashton the Director of Maternal Mental Health at The Healing Group in midvale about just how many dads are dealing with postpartum depression and what can be done to help them. They discuss how getting dad involved earlier in the birth and pregnancy process can help them feel more connected. Father's Day is a day to celebrate and honor dads but there are often men not feeling like themselves and not knowing how to express what they're feeling after their wife just had a baby. It's important to remembering that they too may suffer from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, and various other struggles. Many fathers suffer in silence. Let’s end the stigma of getting help and support fathers too. The Mom Show on KSL is hosted by Lindsay Aerts. KSL News Radio is part of Bonneville Media and based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
